History

The committee was founded on June 13th, 1973. The population increase and traffic problems in the Cannes-Grasse area would led one to think that a way for public transports on a reserved site would be of great help to all those who do not own a car.

Realizations

The first step of acceeding to Grasse was taken on Sunday 28th May 1978, with the opening of the line from Cannes to Ranguin using the railcar X 94630. Unfortunately, he will not go further : he ran for the last time on Thursday November 23rd, 1995 (on the eve of a SNCF strike) and was not resumed at the end of this long strike. X 94630 was moved to Marseille Blancarde depot on Sunday, February 4th, 1996. To day it is offer to loan ... For more details (sorry, only in French).

Activities

The four main activities of the Committee are :

To promote the reopening of the Cannes-Grasse railway line, which would include the public transportation, thus offering on one side an integrated net, and on the other side, real service to population (thus relieving the road network)
To defend public transportation users against whatever company (taxi, plane, boat, train, bus). Our Committee is one of the founding member of the F.N.A.U.T.(Fédération Nationale des Usagers des Transports en Commun), the national federation of public transportation users.
To save ancient railway rolling stock : the Committee manage a standard railcar "Unifié 300ch", named "Picasso" number X 3824, authorized to use SNCF lines. The last time he travelled to Grasse was on July 15th, 1995 (a group of our British friends joined us on this occasion). The Committee is also in charge of a 030 tank steam engine, built by Corpet-Louvet (listed as historical heritage), to day on loan to AGRIVAP in Ambert (Puy de dôme).
To organize bus travels for its members, mainly on Sundays, to visit touristical sites.
