Thirtieth vehicle classified "Historics Monuments"

October 23, 2003, the Higher Commission of the Historic Monuments gave a favorable answer for the classification of the axle coach of Bretennoux - Biars to St Céré (Lot). This vehicle was built in 1907 for the very short "Tramway du Quercy" (10 km) connecting the station of Bretenoux - Biars to St Céré.
History of "Tramway du Quercy"
In 1904 Mr. Laval received from the "Lot" department a concession for a line of Tram connecting the two cities and which have to be prolonge towards the north in direction of Beaulieu to be connected to the "Tramway de la Corrèze". The line was opened in 1907. The lack of material and the First World War gave great difficulties to the company. In 1922 the department repurchased the concession, the "Tramway du Quercy" became "Régie du chemin de fer de Bretenoux-Biars à St Céré". The material was given back in operating conditions. In 1924 the first Berliet railcar was brought into service, but the traffic dropped. In 1928 a Renault rail-car was also brought into service. In 1933 the engines required a new revision which was never carried out. The steam trains were then given up and goods traffic ensured by trucks. In October 1933, the Berliet rail-car broke down and was replaced by a bus. In April 1934, the Renault rail-car broke down. The "Bretenoux-Biars St Céré" lived.
