HISTORY OF "TRAMWAYS DE LA SARTHE" NETWORK

The "Tramways de la Sarthe" are no longer real tramways.

The evolution of the set a laws leads to find three different statuses for each line of the network:

1865 status for the two first lines.
1880 tramway regime for the line "Le Grand Lucé - La Chârtre".
1880 Local Interest Railway status for other lines.

In 1895, theses regimes are modified, and the whole network becomes a "Chemin de fer d'inter_t Local" according to the 1880 rule. The trade name of Tramways is kept though things are actually different on the ground.

A train arrives at Volmay station. The shelter for passengers with a little office is made of bricks. Its style is typical of the second network.
